Meet Christina P. Stewart

Woman in blue dress gazing out a window.

Born on October 9th, Christina P. Stewart is the daughter of James E. and Constance A. Perrin. She is the youngest of six siblings (Veronica Sandra, James II, Patricia, Patrick, and Christina), raised in Winston-Salem, NC. Under the guidance of her mother, affectionately known as "Elder Perrin," Christina and her siblings received biblical teachings from the word of God. After her father's passing when she was 12 years old, her mother emphasized the importance of honoring God and embodying Godly principles. A principle that resonated deeply with Christina was the essence of giving and receiving LOVE. She embraced a lifestyle characterized by loving GOD, loving family, and loving others. The way she taught her children to love extended beyond their family, spreading warmth and kindness to everyone they encountered. As a close-knit family, her mother equipped them with the tools to navigate a world filled with uncertainties, always urging them to operate in and through love. Christina lived by the belief that "Love Isn't Love unless it's given away."

Coming from a musically motivated family of singers, her father, James E. Perrin II, was a prominent figure in Gospel music as a lead singer with the group "Hallelujah Gospel Singers." Her sister, Patricia Perrin, formed the acclaimed group "Peace of Mind," well-known for their exquisite acapella harmonies. Christina was inherently drawn to music at an early age, and her passion for singing blossomed throughout her youth and teen years. This love for gospel music became a defining aspect of her life. The roots of Christina's passion for music were nurtured in her childhood home, where her mother would gather Christina and her siblings for morning devotions around the coffee table. This devotional time was filled with prayer and singing songs and hymns of praise, igniting Christina's love for singing and inspiring her future songwriting journey.

At just nine years old, Christina began her public singing career in her home church, Mount Calvary Holy Church in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She performed "99 ½ won’t do" (one of the family’s devotional songs) to an enthusiastic audience, earning a standing ovation. Captivated by this experience, she wholeheartedly pursued her passion for singing and eventually became an active member of the youth, young adult, and adult choirs. Though bashful and shy at first, Christina blossomed into a talented gospel singer and discovered many other gifts during her time at Mt. Calvary Holy Church. Her quest to understand God's purpose for her life deepened her personal relationship with Jesus Christ and led her to serve in leadership roles, including Youth Sunday School teacher, Youth Choir director, and church finance assistant. Beyond merely singing about Jesus, Christina longed to know Him intimately. It was through God's grace, expressed through Jesus Christ, that she found her purpose and aimed to empower others to share in this grace. Her commitment to service ultimately led her to become one of the Worship Leaders at Mount Calvary Holy Church.

At her core, Christina P. Stewart is a worship leader, encourager, motivational speaker, mentor, and most importantly, one who truly loves the LORD and desires to BE the change she wants to see. With a remarkable gift to lead worshippers into encounters with God, she uplifts hearts and restores joy through her voice, demonstrating a heart of service to the LORD. Christina's passion for singing, combined with her desire to empower others, has prepared her for a greater purpose in God's plan. Her willingness to say "YES" to God has allowed her to impact many lives. Those who have witnessed the transformative power of God in Christina's life recognize that her "Yes" opened doors to unimaginable opportunities. As Christina grew closer to GOD, her desire to help others experience this same grace intensified, compelling her to deepen her commitment to spreading the good news of Christ.

In 2005, Christina entered the Gospel Music Channel's Gospel Dream Competition in Atlanta, GA, often likened to the American Idol for the Gospel genre. Rising to fame as a finalist in this competition, she signed with the Zomba Gospel Label/Verity Gospel Label CD. Her compilation CD titled "Gospel Dream," released in April 2007, featured her stunning rendition of "Your Grace is Amazing," written by Grammy Award Winner Aaron Lindsey, garnering her a loyal fan base within the gospel music community. Christina had the honor of performing alongside renowned artists like Fred Hammond, Kim Burrell, Israel & New Breed, Kelly Price, Kirk Franklin, and others at Bishop Paul Morton’s Full Gospel Fellowship Conference in 2007. Recently, she released her debut single, "The Best of Me," available on all major digital distribution platforms, and is diligently working on her debut album, entitled "Just Me," which aims to inspire listeners to experience a deep, intimate encounter with Jesus Christ. Christina is also authoring her book, "My Journey to a Place Called FREE."

Currently residing in North Carolina, Christina P. Stewart is a devoted friend, sister, and mother of three: Brittany, Jasimen, and Christopher. She is committed to spreading the love of Jesus Christ as her life's mission, living out the principles and songs that reflect her beliefs. Christina's favorite scripture and her vow to the Lord is Psalm 27:4: "One thing have I desired of the LORD, and that will I seek after: to dwell in the house of THE LORD forever."

I have always enjoyed music as a child, and when I sang my very first solo at my home church, I knew that being a Christian singer would be a major part of my life. I have always enjoyed music as a child, and when I sang my very first solo at my home church, I knew that being a Christian singer would be a major part of my life. However, during a winter season of my journey, someone told me, 'no one would ever want to hear you sing.' I listened to that voice and, for a short time, stopped singing. This led to deep soul searching and prayer, as I asked God who I really am and what His plan is for my life. It was during this time that I discovered my calling in gospel music, allowing my music ministry to flourish in a way I had not experienced before, ultimately leading me to become a worship leader.

South Africa welcomes Christina P. Stewart.
